Frequently Asked Questions...

What type of Church is Christ the King?

Christ the King Lutheran Church is a member of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS). The LCMS is a mission-oriented, Bible-based, confessional Christian denomination headquartered in St. Louis, Mo.

What does the LCMS believe?

Sola Gratia (Grace Alone)... Sola Fide (Faith Alone)... Sola Scriptura (Scripture Alone)...

Grace Alone...

God loves the people of the world, even though they are sinful, rebel against Him and do not deserve His love. He sent Jesus, His Son, to love the unlovable and save the ungodly.

Faith Alone...

By His suffering and death as the substitute for all people of all time, Jesus purchased and won forgiveness and eternal life for them. Those who hear this Good News and believe it have the eternal life that it offers. God creates faith in Christ and gives people forgiveness through Him.

Scripture Alone...

The Bible is God's inerrant and infallible Word, in which He reveals His Law and His Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ. It is the sole rule and norm for Christian doctrine.

What is a typical Sunday like at your church?

Sunday School and Bible Study - *Due to the Coronavirus, our "typical" Sunday is less "typical" than in the past.* At 9:30 am, we offer an online Bible Study via Zoom (using the link on our homepage or one received by email). Contact us for more information or to receive the Zoom link or password. We will continue this method throughout the year, or until new guidance supports in-person Bible Studies again. It is open for all who would like to attend. Active conversation is encouraged.

At this time we are unsure how federal, state, and local Coronavirus recommendations and guidelines will affect our Sunday School for children (from September through May).

Worship Service - At 10:30 am, we hold a "traditional" Worship Service, using the Lutheran Service Book (hymnal). We also use a projection system to enhance our worship service and better accommodate our visitors, who may not be familiar with the Liturgy of our Service. Coronavirus update: We also meet online via Zoom for our Worship Services using the same link and password for our Bible Study. We encourage those who choose to meet in-person to follow federal, state, and local Coronavirus recommendations and guidelines.

Fellowship - Following the Worship Service we invite all to join us in our Fellowship Hall. This is a great opportunity to get to know each other and share in conversation and fellowship.

Communion - In an effort to meet safety guidelines due to the Coronavirus, we have moved Holy Communion to a seperate service on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 pm. Space is limited to 25 people. Please contact the church to reserve a space or for more information.

What should I wear to Service?

We maintain a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere at Christ the King, and casual clothing is accepted. We do not have a defined dress code, however we do request that our guests avoid clothing that could be considered offensive. Most of our congregation wears business-casual attire. All are welcome.

Where do I park my car? Where should I enter the building?

There is a parking lot adjacent to Christ the King, with entry from East Watts Street, between our building and the Medical Center Enterprise. We share this parking lot with the Hospital during the week, however all spaces are reserved for Christ the King Lutheran Church on Sundays.

The two glass doors that face the parking lot are our primary entrance for Sunday worship and mid-week bible studies. If you are visiting our Pastor during his weekly office hours, please use the glass doors next to the big white cross that faces East Watts Street.
